300 for Lagos Swimming Classics at Lagos [Sports]

Over 300 swimmers are expected to participate at Lagos Swimming Classics scheduled to take place at the Teslim
Balogun Stadium, Lagos from November 7 to 10. The tournament director, Babatunde Fatai-Williams, said the competition had been sanctioned by the African Swimming Confederation. Fatai-Williams said, “By this week, we should be able to confirm the profile of some of the foreign swimmers that will feature at the championship. The Nigerian swimmers who are going to participate in the classics open category were selected based on their performances at the recent Chief of the Naval Staff Open Swimming Championship in Oghara Delta State.” Meanwhile, the Main Organising Committee for the event has earmarked N5.8m as cash prizes at the championship. According to the MOC chairman, Wahid Oshodi, the classics is being organised to expose athletes to international standards and also to attract top athletes to the tournament “The swimming classics is also one of the series of events line up for the Lagos Sports Classics and we hope to stage
another world class event just as we did during the table tennis and chess tournaments.”
