Last year he was leading the line for Stoke but after being reduced to a bench-warming role under new Potters boss Mark Hughes, Peter Crouch now has to make do with carrying the bags for Abbey Clancy. Crouch’s wife is a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and the former England striker was there to watch her at the weekend.
Crouch and his wife’s professional dance partner Aljaž Skorjanec at a point left Abbey to watch as the two men turned the rehearsal room to a football training ground. The kick-around only held during rehearsal breaks. The lanky striker showed the dancer the tricks of his trade in the room, but that would not substitute playing time at his club Abbey was pictured having a cigarette after surviving her latest appearance on Strictly but there was no sign of Crouch following in the footsteps of England midfielder Jack Wilshere by lighting up.
